STEGH Foundation Celebrates “GivingTuesday”
St. Thomas, ON – On Tuesday, November 27th, participating registered charities and non profits will celebrate GivingTuesday – the opening day of the giving season. It is a day when charities, civic organizations, businesses and individuals join together and rally for their favourite causes. Instead of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, imagine a day dedicated to giving back, around the world, across Canada, and in our own community! That is what GivingTuesday is all about!
GivingTuesday harnesses the potential of social media and the generosity of people around the world to bring about real change in their communities; it provides a platform for them to encourage the donation of time, resources and talents to address local challenges. It also brings together the collective power of a unique blend of philanthropically minded partners and citizens to encourage and amplify small acts of kindness. Across Canada and around the world, GivingTuesday unites communities by sharing our capacity to care for and empower one another.
Who is involved? In Canada, GivingTuesday is an initiative of CanadaHelps, The GIV3 Foundation, and a total of 15 founding partners. They have been joined by thousands of Canadian charities, businesses and communities in a collective call to all Canadians to support charities of their choice. GivingTuesday was started in 2012 in the USA by the UN Foundation and the 92nd Street Y. The movement now includes more than 150 countries!
The community is invited to support the incredible transformations taking place at STEGH. There are many ways for individuals, businesses and civic organizations to get involved, and the best place to start is by visiting ItsOURHospital.ca.
