OUR Community Invests $11.5 Million in OUR Hospital!

St. Thomas, ON – Thanks to the generosity of donors in St. Thomas, Elgin County, and beyond, the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation continued its support of OUR Hospital this year with a gift of $11.5 million. The distribution included the patient equipment for the 2017/18 fiscal year and a payment for the Great Expansion as substantial completion occurred in November 2017.

Incoming Foundation President Kathy Cook Noble explains the positive impact this will have on the healthcare in our community. “Every year, the STEGH Foundation continues our fundraising endeavours to invest in important patient care equipment. Whether it is purchasing replacement beds, monitors or investing in entirely new state-of-the-art equipment, this will empower our frontline staff to offer the best care possible to our patients, families, and friends.”

Foundation Executive Director, Paul Jenkins, “With the advances in medical equipment and technology, the level of care provided at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital is continually evolving, allowing staff to do more than ever to improve patient care. The STEGH Foundation works closely with the Hospital to help respond to those changes by making these important investments.

The “big” cheque presentation preceded the Foundation’s Annual General Meeting, which took place on Thursday, June 21st. The AGM included nominations for the Board of Directors for 2018/19. Kathy Cook Noble was elected President; Judy Thorner was elected Vice-President, while Lyle McLean will continue to serve as Treasurer, and Sandra DiMeo will serve as Past-President.

Although the Great Expansion fundraising campaign is complete, the STEGH Foundation continues to work closely with philanthropic minded community members to raise more than $500,000 annually to purchase patient care equipment.
