St. Thomas, ON – Thanks to the generosity of donors in St. Thomas, Elgin County, and beyond, the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation continued its support of OUR Hospital this year with a gift of $1.2 million. The distribution included for example, patient equipment for the 2018/19 fiscal year.
Incoming Foundation President Sandra DiMeo explains the positive impact this will have on the healthcare in our community, “the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital strives for patient care excellence for our families and entire community. The healthcare innovation happening at our own community hospital is incredible, and the STEGH Foundation is proud to support frontline staff through important investments in patient care equipment and nursing education.”
“The impact our donors and community make can been seen on a daily basis throughout OUR Hospital. It had been an exciting year with our “Care by Parent” Residence opening, as well a newly renovated space to accommodate two mammography units, which has expanded our screening services,” Foundation Executive Director, Paul Jenkins comments. “We are so excited for the year ahead with many more projects to accommodate the growth of OUR Hospital services. The STEGH Foundation will continue our efforts to support state-of-the-art patient care equipment, and, assist in supporting educational opportunities for our nursing staff.”
The “BIG” cheque presentation preceded the Foundation’s Annual General Meeting, which took place on Thursday, June 29th. The AGM included nominations for the Board of Directors for 2019/20. Sandra DiMeo was elected President; Judy Thorner was re-elected Vice-President, while Lyle McLean will continue to serve as Treasurer. The STEGH Foundation said thank you and goodbye to Lois Hamilton and Kathy Cook Noble who have both retired from the Board of Directors. The Foundation also welcomed two community members, Martha Zacharias from Aylmer, along with Danial Dale of Central Elgin, who have joined as board members.
The STEGH Foundation continues to work closely with philanthropic minded community members to raise more than $500,000 annually to purchase patient care equipment. Help us transform our healthcare through a gift of support to OUR Hospital.
