Harvest Moon Gala an Amazing Success

St. Thomas, ON – The results are in! $120,000 was raised at this year’s Harvest Moon Gala. The St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation’s 7th Annual Signature Black Tie Gala “Harvest Moon” was another impressive event supporting patient care excellence at OUR Hospital. Generous sponsors, guest and volunteers gathered at the St. Anne’s Centre on Saturday, October 19th, 2019, for this one-of-a-kind fundraiser in support of Diagnostic Imaging at STEGH.

“We are always humbled and amazed by the support we receive from our sponsors and community partners every year. The STEGH Foundation was very excited to be in partnership with Buckland Custom Brokers, our Premiere Presenting Partner for 2019,” explained event co-chair Lois Hamilton. “Our wonderful partners, who are always so generous, really understand the importance of excellent healthcare for Elgin County and St. Thomas residents.”

“St. Thomas is a great community to raise a family and run a business. Buckland has strong roots in this community and we are proud to be a part of it. Buckland realizes the importance of giving back, and that’s why we decided to support the Gala and Hospital,” explains Craig Smith, President, Buckland. “Our employees live locally, and supporting them is a small gesture of appreciation for all that they do. A strong Hospital means a strong, healthy community and we are proud to support both.”

This year’s 7th Annual Signature Black Tie Gala “Harvest Moon” was set in a beautifully decorated Autumn themed atmosphere. Thanks to caterer James Meadows, the guests enjoyed a fall harvest inspired dinner. Gaming for prizes, and a silent auction were a fun part of the evening’s activities.

Back by popular demand, the “Mystery Doors” were a huge hit again. Guests purchased keys for $20 each and took their chance at unlocking a door to win an incredible prize valued at a minimum of $2,500. There were five very lucky and excited winners!

We extend our thanks and appreciation to all of our sponsors for their generosity. Our thanks to our volunteers for their incredible support, including the St. Thomas Railway City Rotary Club who generously volunteered as croupiers for the Gala’s gaming.

Given the demand for screening services in Elgin County, our Hospital requires the equipment and tools to respond to our patients’ healthcare needs. This investment in Diagnostic Imaging Services will allow STEGH to accommodate growth in our community, and will enable staff to keep up to patients’ needs for a long time.

Since 2013, the STEGH Foundation’s annual fundraising Gala has cumulatively raised more than $600,000 in support of patient care excellence. The funds raised through the Gala have supported the following service areas: Mental Health (2013 – Chair Affair); Mammography (2014 – CASO Royale); Patient & Family Resource Centre (2015 – Black Tie & Pearls); our Hospital’s CT Scanner (2016 – Masquerade); the Cardiac and Intensive Care Unit (2017 – Hooray for Hollywood); and Cancer Care (2018 – Midnight in Paris).
