St. Thomas, ON – On May 16th, local women along with the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation, joined together to celebrate “A Divine Night Out” at GCW Custom Kitchens & Cabinetry Inc.
“A Divine Night Out” was an evening that spoke to every woman’s inner goddess with amazing entertainment, great food, door prizes and glam bags. The “Divine Marketplace” offered shopping while supporting local entrepreneurs and artisans as they sold their unique products. Our guests had a “divine” time as they sipped, shopped and socialized in support of Mammography at STEGH.
The STEGH Foundation’s collaboration and work with GCW Custom Kitchens & Cabinetry Inc. and Hayhoe Homes was community partnership at its best! Not only was it a night of fun, together, we raised $20,000 to support STEGH’s Mammography Services.
“GCW Custom Kitchens & Hayhoe Homes have been incredibly generous and community-oriented partners. They understand the importance of a strong community, and that starts with our Hospital,” explains Sue Warden, Manager, Signature & Community Events, STEGH Foundation. “We had 200 totally engaged guests who understood the importance of OUR Hospital, and in particular Mammography Services. We also partnered with talented local entrepreneurs, caterers and chefs making for a very successful evening.”
“We had an absolute blast with “A Divine Night Out.” We recognize the importance of supporting the healthcare services provided at STEGH, and the impact mammography services make for all the women in our lives,” explains Ron DeWeger, President & CEO at GCW. “We are thrilled to be supporting mammography this year as it is an essential service in detecting breast cancer.”
The St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital’s Mammography Services have performed more than 5,600 mammograms last year. STEGH is an accredited Mammography Centre with the Canadian Association of Radiologists, and an Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) site with Cancer Care Ontario. The goal of the OBSP program is to find breast cancers when they are small, less likely to have spread and more likely to be treated successfully.
Given the demand for screening services in Elgin County, our Hospital requires the equipment and tools to respond to our patients’ healthcare needs. This investment in Mammography services will allow STEGH to accommodate growth over the next ten years in our community, and will enable us to balance demand for a long time.
GCW Custom Kitchens & Cabinetry Inc., and Hayhoe Homes are committed community partners, who will help us equip OUR Hospital with the right equipment, tools and space needed to support our patients’ healthcare now and for the future.
The St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation continues to work with our community partners to raise funds for patient care equipment and infrastructure projects. Everything from monitors and beds, to equipment for procedures, as well as improvements to the clinical spaces needed to provide care, supporting OUR Hospital is our top priority, and working with donors and community partners, helps us succeed in carrying out our mission.
