Past Campaigns

The Foundation raises funds to assist the Hospital in acquiring patient care equipment, supporting facility upgrades, and educational programs. Money raised cannot be used for hospital operating costs (i.e. salaries, medical supplies, heat/light, etc.) These funds come from the Provincial Government through the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.

Funds are raised by personal gifts, direct mail, special events, bequests, insurance, memorial gifts, etc.

Gifts are classified as charitable donations and are tax deductible. Since its inception in 1985, the Foundation has raised $25M+. Some examples of Hospital purchases through the Foundation:

Give Us Room to Care

  • $4 million goal reached February 1991
  • Constructed new facilities to Continuing Care and Rehabilitation Services.

Century Equipment

  • $700,000 goal reached March 1992
  • Purchased a range of equipment items for several patient care departments.

Operation: Patient Care

  • $1.4 million goal reached September 1993
  • Purchased a range of equipment items for several patient care departments.

Partners in Progress

  • $2.3 million goal reached June 1995
  • Renovated patient rooms, ie. upgraded appearance and function of patient rooms, installed air conditioning, and upgraded fire safety system.

CT Scan Suite

  • $1.25 million goal reached February 1998
  • Created a Computed Tomography (CT) Suite, including a new building and purchased a CT Scanner and related equipment and facilities.

Digital Mammography Machine

  • $580,000 raised to go towards the purchase of a new Mammography Unit 2008

Hip to Give

  • $287,000 raised to go towards the purchase of orthopaedic surgical equipment

2009-2010

  • $723,500 raised to go towards Paediatric and Surgical Equipment

2011

  • $874,000 raised for renovations to the Emergency Department and the purchase of monitors for operating rooms

2011-2012

  • $350,000 raised to go towards the purchase of a Unit Dose Machine

2014-2016

  • $750,000 raised for a Digital Mammography Unit

STEGH’s Great Expansion Campaign

  • From 2011 to 2017, more than $16.3 million raised for STEGH’s Great Expansion Capital Campaign (included the purchase of a new CT scanner)

2016

  • $60,000 raised through the World Tubing Championships on Family Day 2016 for the Special Care Nursery in STEGH’s Women’s & Children’s Unit
  • $60,000 raised through the STEGH Foundation 4th Annual Black Tie  – Masquerade Gala towards the purchase of the new CT scanner

2017

  • $85,000 raised through the STEGH Foundation 5th Annual Black Tie Gala – Hooray for Hollywood for STEGH’s CICU

2018 

  • $107,000 raised through the STEGH Foundation’s 6th Annual Black Tie Gala – Midnight in Paris for cancer care!
